Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)

Effective January 1, 2004 the Federal Government passed into law a Bill to start Health Savings Accounts, (HSA) which provides individuals a way to pay medical expenses with pre-tax dollars. To qualify for these accounts, the individual needs to be covered by a high Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).

Certain requirements need to be included into the HDHP in order to open a Health Savings Account. One requirement is the dollar amounts for minimum and maximum limits. They are indexed for inflation annually. You can view (below) the 2010 Department of Treasury flyer for more Health Saving Account plan details.
